Showcasing Chitral to the world
A story of how two Australian sisters created an international brand
A story of how two Australian sisters created an international brand
Chitrali embroidery has never looked more pretty than on a 'Polly&me' bag. Every Pakistani woman with a penchant for embellishment has probably seen Chitrali traditional handiwork at some time or the other - the vibrant, finely stitched flowers or patterns appliquéd on to crude cushions and bags by the women from up-north. But nine odd years ago, Australian sisters Ange and Cath Braid decided to hone this embroidery into finer, color-coordinated designs and then to adorn them on to sumptuous leather bags. Settling into Islamabad and traveling back and forth to Chitral, they created 'Polly&me'. There's been no looking back ever since.
